#JustTheFacts: Climate Action — We have 11 years to act

Climate Change is happening and we know that we are the cause. Youth are going on school strikes to demand climate action — and it is time to act now in order to limit global warming to below 1.5°C.

Our panel “#JustTheFacts: Climate Action — We have 11 years to act” will discuss what needs to be done to limit global warming to 1.5°C, what solutions already exist, what challenges solution implementation faces, and what we each can do to reduce our carbon footprint and take informed climate action. Join our moderated discussion with an expert panel & audience Q&A to learn more about the climate action required and how you can get involved.

We are very pleased to announce that Katie Sullivan (IETA), Susan McGeachie (Hatch) and Leila Durante (Women in Renewable Energy) will be participating in our panel, which will be moderated by Dan Weaver(Atmospheric Scientist and Assistant Professor at the University of Toronto Scarborough).

This event is being hosted by the Toronto Science Policy Network (TSPN), with support from the Canadian Meteorological and Oceanographic Society (CMOS) Toronto Centre and the School of the Environment at the University of Toronto.

FAQs

What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?

The closest subway stop is Queen’s Park Station, which is a seven minute walk from University College.

What accessibility accomodations are available?

Our event will feature live captioning.

The main entrance to University College are the large manual doors reachable via outdoor stairs. This entrance faces south and is clearly visible from the circle. Unfortunately, due to the ongoing UC Building renovation, the wheelchair-accessible entrance to University College remains closed as a safety precaution during the current phase of construction. There is no alternative barrier-free entry possible until at least April 2019.

No! We simply need your name to check you in to the event.
